Shooting in Dinkytown injures two over the weekend
The University of Minnesota sent out two safety notifications to the campus community over the weekend, including one regarding a shooting in Dinkytown that injured two.
According to the Safe-U notification, the shooting happened Saturday near the 1200 block of 4th Street Southeast just before midnight. One victim was reportedly taken to the hospital in “serious condition” while the other victim was grazed “to a lesser extent.”
The suspect is described in the notification as being 5’7”, thin, with a long-sleeve white shirt and a black ski mask. The suspect reportedly left the scene with two others in a black sedan.
The other incident occurred near the 300 block of 15th Avenue Southeast at around 2:40 p.m. on Sunday. A physical fight reportedly broke out in a business, with the suspect firing a gun during the fight.
There is no known victim, and the incident was classified as a fight instead of an assault with a firearm.
The suspect with the firearm was described as heavyset wearing a grey shirt and dark jeans. He reportedly fled in a dark green Chevy Tahoe.
The case is being handled by the Minneapolis Police Department.
