The 66th homicide in Minneapolis this year is under investigation. Gunfire was reported in the area of Plymouth and Logan avenues in the city's Near North neighborhood at 2:52 p.m. Sunday, with 911 callers then reporting that a man was down on the ground.
Officers arrived at the location and found the victim – a man in his late teens – without a pulse and not breathing. Police attempted CPR and were able to regain a pulse and get the young man breathing again before paramedics took over.
The victim was transported to Hennepin Healthcare and underwent surgery, but died hours later, according to Minneapolis PD.
Homicide investigators are working the case. The victim's identity will be released at a later stage by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
