A shooting Friday night on Minneapolis' North Side left one person dead, which marked the 71st homicide of the year in the city. 

According to Minneapolis Police Department, the shooting was reported at approximately 10:09 p.m. in the area of the 2000 block of West Broadway Ave., with officers arriving to the scene to find a man not breathing and without a pulse. 

Police performed CPR and treated the victim's wound before paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. 

"Preliminary investigation reveals that, based on evidence at the scene, the victim and suspect(s) likely knew one another," MPD announced in a release, adding that the Crime Lab is investigating. 

The victim's identity will be released at a later stage by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
