Shots fired as police chase suspect in Moorhead

The police officer had been investigating "suspicious activity" the afternoon of July 4.

Shots were fired during a brief foot chase in Moorhead Sunday afternoon.

A Moorhead police officer was "investigating suspicious activity" happening on the 2500 block of 4th Avenue North around 3 p.m. on July 4, according to the city's police department.

During this investigation, "a short foot pursuit took place, and shots were fired," the Moorhead Police Department said. It provided no other details regarding what constituted suspicious activity or how many shots were fired, by whom.
