The pilot of a small aircraft was injured after crashing in White Bear Lake Sunday morning.
The plane crashed near Hwy. 61 and County Road J around 11 a.m., with a St. Paul police scanner Facebook page indicating that emergency workers had to extricate the pilot from the wreckage.
A member of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office told KARE 11 that the small propeller plane took off from nearby Benson Municipal Airport in White Bear Lake and then turned around to head back to the airport for an unknown reason.
On return, the plane hit a tree and crashed to the ground.
KSTP identified the pilot as Gary McDaniel, who was taken to Regions Hospital in St Paul with non-critical injuries.
