Some Minneapolis residents weren't feeling very celebratory when fireworks related to All-Star Game festivities woke them well after midnight.

The fireworks, part of Monday night's All-Star Gala near the Mill City Museum, were delayed because of a weather-delayed Home Run Derby event. FOX 9 reported the VIP gala at the museum was hosted by Major League Baseball for about 5,000 people, noting that singer Aloe Blacc performed.

The 15-minute pyrotechnics show didn't start until about 12:20 a.m., the Star Tribune reports.

As the newspaper's Rand Ball noted...

Major League Baseball apologized:

“When planning for this once-in-a-lifetime event, we had numerous meetings about the All-Star Gala with the Twins and Minneapolis Parks and Rec Board to create a memorable event that would be a showcase for the City of Minneapolis while being respectful to residents. While the entities agreed to conduct a light fireworks display at midnight, the show that the fireworks vendor executed was louder and longer than what we were expecting. Major League Baseball and the Twins apologize to area residents for any inconvenience.”

But a number of unhappy residents had already blasted the city on Twitter:
