The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a snowmobile hit a fish house on Lake Minnetonka's Wayzata Bay on Friday night.
According to a social media post that has been widely shared among the Lake Minnetonka community, Peter Kissinger and his girlfriend Sam walked out toward Spirit Island and set up their portable fishing tent.
Sam was inside the tent when two snowmobiles approached going "very fast." A snowmobile hit the fish house, "and debris flew everywhere," Kissinger said in the post.
He took a video of the aftermath and posted it on YouTube, noting the crash happened around 6 p.m.:
Sam apparently hurt her foot and an ambulance was called, while the snowmobilers took off toward Wayzata Bay without stopping to help the victims, the post claims.
"It was such a terrible feeling to see them flee the scene and leave us there. They had no idea what happened, and what could have happened. It was a miracle that the snowmobile went through the house on the side she was not sitting on (where I was sitting a minute before)," the post says.
Kissinger said he shared the story because he's seeking more information about what happened, and is asking people to call the Hennepin County Sheriff's Water Patrol at 612-596-9880.
The sheriff's office confirmed to Bring Me The News that it is investigating the incident, but declined to provide further details.
