A 26-year-old soldier killed in Afghanistan on Sept. 13 was a student at Minnesota State University Mankato. Sgt. Kyle B. Osborn of Lafayette, Indiana was a civil engineering student but dropped out after two years to join the military. Funeral services will be held in Indiana.

A 26-year-old soldier killed in Afghanistan on Sept. 13 was a student at a Minnesota college. The Pioneer Press says Sgt. Kyle B. Osborn of Lafayette, Indiana studied at Minnesota State University Mankato for two years before joining the army. His mother moved to Blackduck, Minn. after Osborne graduated.

Osborn's father, Creighton Osborn, tells the Star Tribune his son is a 2005 graduate of McCutcheon High School in Lafayette where he played football and wrestled. Osborned met his wife from Delano while he was a civil engineering student at MSU. He dropped out after two years to join the military.

Funeral services will be held in Indiana.
