Someone stole an SUV full of food donations in New Hope
New Hope Police Department says "the best in people and the worst in people" was on display earlier this week when an SUV full of food donations was stolen from outside a local cinema and bar.
The vehicle, which had been loaded up by staff at the New Hope Cinema and Grill to be donated to worthy causes amid the COVID-19 outbreak, was taken from outside the business at 2749 Winnetka Ave. N. around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
The vehicle is a grey Toyota 4-Runner, license plate MJX 783, so if anyone sees it they should contact police at 763-531-5169.
It was a sucker punch for the Cinema and Grill and its owners Sean and Cheryl Fuhrmann, who were closing the business temporarily following Gov. Tim Walz's coronavirus shutdown of entertainment venues and dine-in establishments.
The food was destined for a local food shelf to help struggling residents during extraordinarily challenging circumstances.
