Authorities south of the Twin Cities are investigating what appears to be a potentially deadly prank on a local county road.

Someone has been placing rocks and other objects in the path of oncoming cars in the Scott County area, causing damage to a number of them.

The rocks, cinder blocks and "boulders" were found on Wednesday night on 217th Street East and Dakota Avenue in Lakeville, Kare 11 reports.

The station says four vehicles were damaged that night, adding that some residents say it was "the 4th night in a row that this has happened."

FOX 9 reports that no one was injured in the incident, and that the affected drivers at the scene helped by removing the rocks on the road.

Scott County authorities are "actively investigating" what happened, the station says.

Meanwhile, Lakeville resident Darren Rust posted a photo from the scene, saying that local police told him there had been "8 other reports of huge rocks and cinder blocks being placed or rolled onto the road at oncoming cars."

He described whoever was responsible as "twisted individuals":
