Son released from custody following arrest after mother's killing at North St. Paul apartment
A 25-year-old man arrested after his mother was found dead in North St. Paul has been released from custody.
North St. Paul police found Gabrielle Dearing, 46, dead in her Cedarview Commons apartment around 7 p.m. Friday after her sister-in-law called police saying she hadn't been able to get in touch with her.
Police went to the apartment for a welfare check and found an "apparently untouched delivered meal" at the door. Knocks went unanswered so they were let inside by a maintenance worker, at which point they found Dearing dead, having sustained "multiple wounds from a sharp object."
An investigation led to the arrest of Dearing's son in St. Paul. He was booked into Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center for probable cause homicide but released without charges on Tuesday, police say.
No further explanation has been provided, but the investigation into Dearing's death is ongoing and North St. Paul police are asking anyone with information to call them at 651-747-2511.
