Earlier this year, a former adjunct instructor at South Central College accused Annette Parker of plagiarizing parts of her dissertation for her doctoral degree while at Western Kentucky University. Then then published these allegations on the “Save South Central College” blog.
However, Western Kentucky University Provost A. Gordon Emslie wrote in an April 1 letter that a preliminary inquiry concluded Parker "did not intentionally commit plagiarism," and a full investigation is not warranted.
"It has become clear that these reckless charges are one tactic in a coordinated campaign of personal attacks intended to tarnish the reputations of MnSCU presidents," MnSCU Chancellor Steven Rosenstone said in a news release.
Rosenstone was at the helm when Parker was hired.
MnSCU says no further actions will be taken with the plagiarism allegations against Parker, and it considers the matter closed.
“I deeply appreciate the continued support of the students, faculty and staff of South Central College. We will continue to take care of each other and move the college forward together,” Parker said in the release.
The blog has accused two other MnSCU presidents of plagiarism, both of whom were also hired under Rosenstone.
A MnSCU spokesman would not comment on whether it is investigating those allegations, the Star Tribune says.
