Southwestern MN county offers special rewards program just for veterans

Veterans can get all sorts of discounts through this program.

A county in southwestern Minnesota is offering a new rewards program just for veterans.

It's called Honor Rewards, and veterans in Murray County can start getting all sorts of special deals from local businesses through it. They just have to sign up.

To get in on the savings, just click here and fill out the form. If you prefer a paper form, you can get that at the county office during normal business hours.

The service is free and veterans can expect to get their Honor Rewards ID card in the mail in a week or two.

If you own a local business and want to offer rewards, just fill out this form. Several have already signed up, offering things like discounted hair cuts, free drinks, discounted merchandise and more. You can see the list of participating places here.

There are eight other Minnesota counties participating in the rewards program, too. Just select the county you're in to see all the rewards being offered.

This comes just days after the Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs announced 18 counties in southwestern Minnesota have cleared their waiting lists of homeless veterans in need of housing.

It's only the 40th community in the U.S. to end veteran homelessness – the first in Minnesota.
