Minnesota college students are being offered cut-price access to Spotify and Hulu.

Music streaming service Spotify announced on Thursday it is teaming up with video streamer Hulu for a deal that will cost cash-strapped undergraduate students just $4.99-a-month.

For that cash, students will get access to Spotify Premium and Hulu's Limited Commercials plan, through each brands' respective app.

Spotify Premium, which features no ads and allows users to download music, costs other consumers $9.99-a-month. Hulu's Limited Commercials plan, its basic subscription that does feature ads (which are pretty regular despite the name), costs $7.99-a-month.

Students therefore would save $11.99 per month, or $143.88 per year, by signing up for the dual service.

However, Spotify's basic plan, which features ads and doesn't permit downloads, currently costs nothing, so those subscribing to the free service will have to decide whether it's worth upgrading.

Spotify described the deal as a "first-of-its-kind premium entertainment streaming bundle" as two giants of music and video streaming join forces.

"By bundling our enormous catalogues of content together in a single, highly compelling offer, we’re making it easier for people to enjoy all of the TV and music they love, whenever and wherever they want," Tim Connolly, SVP, Head of Distribution and Partnerships at Hulu, said.
