St. Cloud police are investigating a murder that was reported to them over the weekend – by none other than the main suspect himself.

On Saturday morning, a 38-year-old local man walked into the police department and informed officers that he had killed "a female acquaintance" at his home, a news release says.

Sure enough, when officers went to investigate, they found a deceased 45-year-old woman at the residence.

Her body has been sent for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death, the department says.

The woman has not been named yet, but authorities did identify her as a resident of Blaine.

Meanwhile, the suspect is being held at the Stearns County jail pending 1st Degree Murder charges.

Though he did turn himself in, BringMeTheNews does not typically name suspects until they have been formally charged with a crime.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Stearns County Sheriff's Department are assisting with the investigation.
