A high school in St. Cloud was placed on lockdown Wednesday lunchtime when a "large physical fight" broke out between students.

The fight erupted at Tech High School just before noon, with St. Cloud Police Department saying it involved "numerous students."

An on-campus school resource officer was sent to the scene, but more police had to be called due to the number of individual fights that had broken out.

The school then imposed a lockdown keeping students in their classes.

An update is expected to be given later on Wednesday, but police say no weapons were used and no serious injuries have been reported.

Tech High School only this month opened its new $104.5 million campus that houses 1,600 students.

As MPR reports, the school is designed in a way that encourages students to move into technical colleges and four-year schools with a view to embarking on careers as engineers or technicians.
