St. Cloud woman arrested after attempting to assault people with an axe
A woman is in custody after threatening multiple people with an axe in St. Cloud Saturday.
According to the St. Cloud Police Department, officers responded to reports of a woman attempting to assault people with an axe at around 11:46 a.m. Officers were called to the area of the 400 block of 8th Avenue South.
The woman, 53, reportedly attempted to assault a man on a ladder working on his house with the axe. The axe missed the man and struck the ladder instead.
She then lifted her axe and began yelling at a woman on a bicycle before running toward her. Neither victim was injured in the incident.
The woman fled into her residence when officers arrived on the scene. Crisis negotiators and St. Cloud SWAT were also called in.
After a warrant was issued and executed at around 1:38 p.m., the woman was taken into custody.
She is being held at Stearns County Jail on charges of two counts of second degree assault.
