A 20-year-old woman with a 9-month-old baby was involved in a police chase and a rollover crash Saturday night.
According to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, the 20-year-old St. Cloud woman, who was wanted on an outstanding fugitive warrant out of Wisconsin, fled after a deputy spotted her in an SUV following a suspicious vehicle report at a gas station on the 300 block of Little Canada Road in St. Paul.
The deputy reported that "the vehicle was positioned in a way that it was it was hidden from view and the trunk area was facing the gas station," which has been a burglary target, according to the news release.
The woman, with the 9-month-old baby in the SUV, fled and led the deputy on a high-speed chase on Interstate 35E before exiting onto westbound Hwy. 36 and then to Hamline Avenue.
She was southbound on Hamline Avenue when she lost control, hit a retaining wall and rolled the vehicle onto the passenger side at the intersection of Hamline and Idaho avenues.
The baby was located inside the vehicle and had no visible injuries. Both the infant and the woman were taken to a hospital, though the sheriff's office didn't say if the woman suffered any injuries.
She was later booked into the Ramsey County Jail and is facing pending criminal vehicular operation, fleeing a police officer, child endangerment and drug charges.
