A building housing a barber shop and a grocery store was destroyed in a fire on Saturday night.

St. Paul Fire Department reports that the fire was reported around 9:30 p.m. at Selby Avenue and St. Albans Street in a building that was home to two apartments, Clean Cuts Barber Shop and Avenue Grocery.

Firefighters worked all night to contain the fire, doing so in frigid temperatures in single digits.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire.

The owner of Clean Cuts told KARE 11 that he was in the process of moving his barber shop to a new location on University Avenue, but is still devastated by the loss of the shop he called home for 16 years.

The building is believed to be a total loss and will likely have to be torn down.
