The wave of gun violence plaguing St. Paul continued Sunday evening, with yet another person shot to death.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of Rice and Wayzata Streets, about a mile northwest of the downtown area, according to a tweet from the St. Paul Police Department:

Few details were available Sunday night; the victim has yet to be identified, and no arrests have been made.

According to FOX 9's Christina Palladino, the shooting was witnessed by multiple people who called the police:

This marks St. Paul's 30th homicide so far this year, significantly outstripping the 17 homicides that happened last year.

As the Star Tribune notes, the number of killings represents a 25-year high for the city.

The recent spate of gun violence has caused much alarm locally, with Mayor Melvin Carter launching a series of community meetings to address the problem; the first was held at Central Baptist Church just days ago.

Two more are scheduled; the city has more details on its website.
