A Twin Cities man died on Wednesday while he was skiing at Lutsen Mountains on the Minnesota North Shore.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office says it was called around 12:30 p.m. after the skier was found unresponsive and bleeding near the Moose Mountain chalet.

Efforts were undertaken to resuscitate the man, but he was pronounced dead at around 1:15 p.m. by paramedics who had arrived at the scene.

He has since been identified as David Michael Skog, 70, of St. Paul.

Lutsen Mountain Resort's marketing director Jim Vick told WDIO that Skog was skiing by himself at the time it happened.

He also said it's the first death at the resort this season, but not the first in its history.

The cause of Skog's death has not yet been confirmed, with the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office expected to release more at a later stage.
