St. Paul man pleads guilty to stabbing wife's eyes, killing her alleged lover

A St. Paul man pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree assault and second-degree murder in a 2011 case where he stabbed out the eyes of his wife, and then stabbed to death a man he alleged to be her lover. Prosecutors will be seeking a prison sentence of at least 39 years for Pah Ber, 49, when he is sentenced Aug. 31.

A St. Paul man who pleaded guilty to charges of stabbing his wife in the eyes and killing a man he believed to be her lover has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. Pah Ber, 49, received two years less than the recommended sentence by the Ramsey County Probation Department for the November incident. Ber's wife, who has regained some sight in her eyes after four surgeries, pleaded for leniency for her husband in the sentencing.

A St. Paul man has been arrested in connection with the death of another St. Paul man after an alleged car-surfing accident in Wisconsin Saturday. Shawn Swanson, 21, was reportedly riding on top of a moving car when he fell onto the pavement and died, the Burnett County, Wis., Sheriff's Office, said. The driver of the vehicle, Cole T. Fohrenkamm, 21, of St. Paul, was arrested on suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
