St. Paul motorist dies after crash on icy road in western Wisconsin

The crash happened just east of the St. Croix River, to the north of Taylors Falls.

Icy road conditions are suspected of causing a fatal crash in western Wisconsin over the weekend. 

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the two-vehicle collision happened just after 9 a.m. Saturday on Hwy. 87 near 210th Ave. 

The drivers of both vehicle were taken by ambulance to St. Croix Regional Medical Center, with one of the drivers subsequently airlifted to Regions Hospital for treatment. The driver airlifted to Regions Hospital did not survive, and has been identified as E Lor, of St. Paul. 

The other motorist was treated at St. Croix Regional Medical Center and released. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
