St. Paul police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting that took another man's life Friday afternoon in the North End neighborhood.

Just after 12 p.m., police officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting in a business parking lot on the 400 block of Maryland Avenue West, finding a man lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds, a news release says.

The officers rendered first aid until medics could arrive and took over, "but there was nothing they could do to save the man’s life" and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

After issuing an appeal for information, police announced Saturday morning that a 27-year-old St. Paul man has been arrested for murder and booked into Ramsey County Jail.

In a tweet, police described the shooting as an "outrageous act of violence," with a department spokesman calling it "brazen," and remarking that it "happened in broad daylight, in the middle of a Friday afternoon, in a busy commercial area," KSTP reports.

The victim has not yet been identified.

This is the city's eighth homicide this year.

Anyone with any information about the shooting is should call the St. Paul Police Department's Homicide Unit at 651-266-5650.
