St. Paul robbery ends with pursuit, crash, standoff in Minneapolis

Following the crash, the suspect remained in the car for four hours of negotiations with a SWAT Team.

A St. Paul robbery ended on Wednesday with a crash after a police pursuit.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, St. Paul police responded to a report of an aggravated robbery at a business on the 800 block of Arcade Street at around noon.

Police located the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to stop it. The suspect did not pull over and police pursued.

Minneapolis police were told was entering Minneapolis and joined the pursuit. The suspect then crashed into a commercial vehicle on the 2900 block Newton Avenue North.

The suspect remained in the vehicle following the crash and made threats against officers, according to MPD, sparking a four-hour standoff.

Negotiations between the suspect and MPD’s SWAT Team ended with the suspect eventually agreeing to surrender to the officers. The suspect was arrested and taken for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash.

The St. Paul Police Department will investigate and refer charges related to the robbery, pursuit and crash.
