St. Paul schools Superintendent Valeria Silva wants to ask voters for extra money in November. She proposes renewing an existing schools levy -- and raising it. A current levy has brought in about $30 million a year since 2006. The proposed raise would amount to an extra $65 a year on a $149,000 home, the median value in the district this year.

Employees at Delano business take time for recess

Recess is not just for kids anymore according to a business in Delano that encourages its employees to play. An adult "recess" takes place everyday at Landscape Structures, a company that makes playground equipment. The Wellness Program Director says the play time has an impact on employee's happiness and health. Thirty-two percent of employees have reduced BMIs thanks to game time.

St. Paul school buses run late for 2nd day

School buses contracted by St. Paul Public Schools were delayed for the second day in a row, running 20 minutes late or more on several routes. The bus company ran into similar issues Tuesday leaving some routes missed altogether. The school bus company says drivers didn't have time to learn their routes because the contract with the school district was only awarded 30 days ago.

St. Paul gives struggling schools more funding

St. Paul is looking to give its struggling schools a boost. Instead of distributing money to the schools based on enrollment numbers, Minnesota's second-largest district is factoring in demographics and performance of students.

Ecolab donates $190,000 to St. Paul Public Schools

The money was given through the company's Visions for Learning and will be distributed to more than 100 classrooms throughout the district to pay for items like chemistry lab kits and microscopes.

School bus critically injures pedestrian in St. Paul

A pedestrian was sent to the hospital in critical condition after being struck by a school bus in St. Paul. The man in his 50s or 60s was struck while the bus was taking a left-hand turn from Western Ave. onto Aurora Ave. He was transported to Regions Hospital and is expected to survive.

School levy increase approved in St. Paul

A $39 million levy proposal was approved for schools in St. Paul over the next eight years with more than 60 percent of the vote. The measure includes the renewal of a previous $30 million levy and and additional $9 million for technology upgrades.
