Stabbing near Loring Park marks 57th 'reportable' homicide in Minneapolis this year
A stabbing death has been ruled a homicide after a man was found wounded on an upper floor of a building near Loring Park in Minneapolis Thursday morning.
Officers responded to a reported stabbing on the 300 block of Oak Grove Street at 6:14 a.m., arriving to find a man suffering "from what appeared to be straight edge weapon wounds," Minneapolis police spokesperson John Elder said in a release.
The victim was treated by police and firefighters until paramedics transported him to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died a short time after arriving.
Police identified a suspect and arrested the man at the scene. He was taken to the MPD Homicide Unit for questioning. A weapon was also recovered at the scene.
The victim's identity has not been released.
MPD says the stabbing is the 57th "reportable" homicide in the city this year, though the Star Tribune reports that it marks the city's 61st killing of 2021.
