Standoff in Blaine leads to arrest of domestic assault suspect

Anoka County SWAT was called into action overnight to assist in arresting a suspect who barricaded themselves inside residence in Blaine. 

According to Blaine Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of 90th Ave. NE around 3:30 a.m. on a report of a domestic assault involving a knife. 

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident and everyone inside the residence was able to leave, except the suspect who refused to come out and barricaded themselves inside. Around 7:45 a.m. Anoka County SWAT officers entered the home and were able to arrest the suspect without incident.  

The standoff prompted law enforcement to evacuate the surrounding area, giving neighbors a warm place to wait it out on MTC buses. 

People are being asked to avoid the area as the scene was still active with investigators as of Monday morning.
