The suspect, who is known to the victim, had fled into a building at West Broadway and Irving, prompting its evacuation and an hours-long standoff.

It ended at 1:50 p.m., when police found that the suspect had fled. MPD spokesman John Elder told the Star Tribune that they know who he is, and "we will arrest him."

Minneapolis police are at the scene of a standoff in north Minneapolis after a reported shooting Tuesday morning.

The incident is unfolding at a home near Irving Avenue North and West Broadway.

Police say one person is critical after being shot and taken to a hospital.

The suspect has locked himself inside a home. Livestream video at the scene appears to show a SWAT team is in attendance.

The public is being advised to avoid the area.
