UPDATE 11 A.M.

Police say the standoff has ended safely, with the suspect taken into custody.

Original story

Police are engaged in a standoff with a suspect at a hotel in Brooklyn Park, which followed a disturbance overnight.

Officers were initially called to the La Quinta Inn & Suites at 7101 Northland Circle at 3:30 a.m. on a report of a domestic incident.

A female victim was found at the hotel and is safe, while the suspect involved became uncooperative, with police trying to negotiate.

Brooklyn Park PD says the suspect is believed to be armed and refuses to exit his hotel room, with a SWAT team called in.

The La Quinta hotel has been evacuated and the immediate area around it shut down as a precaution, which includes the closure of Northland Circle at Boone Avenue.

More details are expected to be released at an 11 a.m. press conference.
