A 34-year-old man was killed when his vehicle left the roadway and went through a freeway fence in Arden Hills on Sunday.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a 2014 Ford Focus was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on 6th Street Northwest when it went through an "L" intersection, through a freeway fence and rolled down an embankment.

The vehicle came to a rest on the freeway ramp from 35W south to County Road E2.

Mathew Allan Albertson, 34, of New Brighton, was pronounced dead at the scene. Albertson was driving the vehicle and the State Patrol says alcohol was a factor.

A 34-year-old male passenger was treated at the scene for injuries.
