The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle crash that closed down a stretch of Interstate 35 in Lakeville on Monday afternoon.

An 18-year-old female from Northfield driving a 1999 Mazda pickup truck was traveling northbound on the interstate when she lost control and rolled over the cable median barriers near County Road 70.

The truck tumbled into the southbound lanes of I-35 and crashed into two SUVs, one of them driven by a 59-year-old man from Faribault who suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC).

The man's current condition is unknown.

The teenage driver of the Mazda pickup suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville. A 28-year-old Farmington man driving the other SUV suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to HCMC.

Roads were slick from snow that moved through the area at the time of the crash and it's unknown if alcohol was involved.

Southbound I-35 was closed at County Road 60 for a few hours before re-opening on Monday night.
