State Patrol: Pedestrian walking on Highway 169 hit and killed

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a pedestrian was fatally struck by a motorist on Highway 169 in northern Minnesota early Sunday morning. 

According to the crash report, 59-year-old Michael J. Marok, of Bovey, Minnesota, was walking southbound in the right driving lane of Hwy. 169 when he was hit by a motorist driving a Ford Focus. 

The crash happened near Bay Road in Coleraine – northeast of Grand Rapids – with the impact sending Marok into the ditch on the right side of the southbound lanes. 

The incident happened around 1:10 a.m. 

A 55-year-old Grand Rapids man driving the Ford Focus was not injured, nor was a 28-year-old female passenger.
