State Patrol says driver 'intentionally' crossed the center line in fatal crash

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in southern Minnesota in which one motorist may have intentionally crossed the center line before colliding with another vehicle. 

It happened around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday on Hwy. 57 near Kasson, Dodge County. 

According to the State Patrol, 39-year-old Anthony V. Mitchell, of Rochester, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound on Hwy. 57 when he "intentionally crossed the center line" and collided with a southbound Chevy Silverado. 

Mitchell, who was wearing his seat belt, died at the scene. 

The 83-year-old Mantorville man driving the Silverado sustained non-critical injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus in Rochester. 

No further information has been released.
