Authorities say an unbelted motorist was killed in a single-vehicle crash late Saturday night.
The Minnesota State Patrol reports that 26-year-old Patrick D. Swing was driving a 2011 Ford F-350 eastbound on Highway 200 in Cass County when he "hit the shoulder entering a driveway embankment, went into the ditch and rolled."
The crash happened near 74th Avenue around 11:25 p.m. in Lima Township, or about 10 miles southwest of Grand Rapids.
The Hill City man was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, but he died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The state's traffic safety division has recorded at least 278 deaths on Minnesota roads this year. That's well ahead of the 220 fatalities at the same point in 2020.
