The man killed in an accident in McLeod County on Friday has been identified as 50-year-old David Pfeiler.

He was driving south on County Road 7 near the town of Stewart when his car apparently drifted into oncoming traffic, the Star Tribune reports.

Pfeiler hit a car being driven by 38-year-old Jeremey Myrick; both men ended up being flown to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) in Minneapolis, where Pfeiler later died, according to KDUZ

Unfortunately, an 11-year-old traveling with Pfeiler was also injured and airlifted to HCMC, the Journal reports.

As the Tribune notes, McLeod County authorities have not revealed the extent of the child's injuries.

Both Pfeiler and Myrick have been identified in multiple reports as residents of Stewart.

The Journal says the crash is still under investigation.

According to Pfeiler's Facebook, he worked as a laser operator at Spectralytics, a medical technology company in Dassel, Minnesota.
