Strike averted as Metro Transit workers approve labor deal
Metro Transit bus drivers, light rail operators and mechanics have overwhelmingly approved a new three-year contract with the Metropolitan Council, the Pioneer Press reports. Roughly 2,200 to 2,300 members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1005 have been working under a contract that expired on July 31.
MPR notes the new labor agreement includes a a two-percent raise each of the next three years, the the first pay hike since 2009.
Metro Transit workers last walked off the job for six weeks in 2004.
