Student beaten by large group on U of M West Bank campus

A University of Minnesota Twin Cities student was beaten and robbed by a group of 8-10 males.

The U of M Police issued a timely warning on Sunday following the mugging at 1:50 a.m. near Ferguson Hall on the West Bank campus in Minneapolis.

The victim was approached and pushed down by the group, who were a mixture of Hispanic males in their teens and 20s, two of whom were riding bicycles.

The victim was then beaten, before his backpack was stolen and their iPhone damaged.

No weapons were used in the beating, with the victim suffering minor injuries.

U of M police want to hear from anyone with information about the suspects. They can be reached on 612-624-COPS (2677) with the case reference number UM-2018-360890.
