Students experience more hiccups with online testing system

For the second week in a row, nearly 50 Minnesota school districts complained of problems with the new statewide online proficiency testing system Tuesday.

The Pioneer Press reports students experienced long waits for test questions to be delivered, which normally takes just tenths of a second.

Last week, a server slow-down at American Institutes for Research, the contractor providing the tests, caused about 15,000 students to end their test sessions before they were finished.

AIM said Tuesday that their computer system was functioning normally and longer wait times may have been caused by Internet service issues.

Students prepare for the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment all school year.

The state has a three-year, $61 million contract with AIR to administer several state tests. It expires in 2014.
