A Subway employee who said she was robbed of cash outside work in Waite Park was making it up, police say.

Waite Park PD initially issued an appeal for information after the woman reported the robbery outside the sandwich shop at 1301 2nd Street S. on Dec. 28.

But in an update issued on Monday evening, the department says the woman has "admitted the robbery didn't happen."

She is now awaiting charges for falsely reporting a crime and theft.

In the initial report, the Subway worker said she was walking to her car when a man approached her, knocked her down, and took a bag of money she was carrying.

She described her assailant as a "black male wearing a black jacket, a black mask, blue jeans and white tennis shoes."

It's not been made clear if the bag of money supposedly taken from her is the reason she is awaiting charges of theft.

More details will be released when formal charges have been brought against her.
