The man killed by a falling tree north of Brainerd last Saturday has been identified as Graham Merry, 31, of Orono.
According to Merry's obituary, he was a husband and father-of-three – two boys and a girl. Professionally, he was the managing partner of Cullen Real Estate, an investment, development and management firm based in Minneapolis.
He was also a part-time dentist, working at his father's Eden Prairie clinic, Bruce Merry DDS, Artistic Dental Solutions.
"Our dental 'work family' at Bruce Merry DDS is in shock and grieving the sudden, tragic death of Dr Bruce Merry's son, Dr Graham Merry," the dental office wrote on Facebook.
"We ask for your patience and mercy as we mourn the tremendous loss of our beloved colleague and friend, and navigate the schedule as best we can these next days/weeks. Understandably, our hearts are broken...."
Merry died around 1:30 p.m. Saturday when a tree fell on him at a property about 30 miles north of Brainerd, according to the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.
Merry and another man on a tractor were cutting the tree down when it fell. The sheriff's office says Merry attempted to run out of the way but was crushed by the tree.
The man on the tractor cut the tree into sections to free Merry, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Graham was the most selfless, positive, happy, easy going, and joyful person. He saw the best in every person he met. He could not sit still, he was always tinkering, building, planning and dreaming," Merry's obituary reads.
Merry graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in biochemistry later received a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota.
