"I'm buying a superhero a beer," wrote John Dusek III on Facebook Wednesday, after his friend Clay Baer helped rescue a man from a submerged car in a Dakota County pond.

As FOX 9 tells it, Baer and his friends were out walking near the Minnesota River that fateful afternoon when they saw a car tumble off Highway 77 and plunge into a small pond. Baer went in after it.

The good Samaritan located the driver of the submerged car (who had managed to make it to the surface), grabbed the man and kept him above water until help arrived, the station says.

“It was like a movie, so fast and so crazy,” Baer told FOX 9.

But Dusek, impressed with Baer's bravery, wasn't as humble about the daring rescue, saying in a Facebook update that his "buddy" had saved a man's life.

According to KSTP, the unidentified driver was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover, but he was a bit banged up, apparently suffering cuts to the face as well as a broken arm.

"It was a pretty awesome day," Baer told the station, which reports the rewards for the good Samaritan were immediate – he went back to work to complete his shift, but was sent home for the day.
