Suspect fatally shot by deputy on I-35 after alleged domestic incident at Grand Casino Hinckley

A suspect is dead after being shot by a Pine County sheriff's deputy on Interstate 35 Friday afternoon. 

The incident began at 1:45 p.m. as a reported domestic situation at Grand Casino Hinckley. Deputies with the Pine County Sheriff's Office were on their way to the casino when they spotted the suspect's vehicle and began pursuit, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which is has the lead in the investigation. 

Per the BCA, the deputies followed the suspect driver, who traveling south in the northbound lane of I-35 before stopping near an exit to Mora. 

During the encounter that ensued, one of the deputies shot the suspect. It's unclear if the suspect was still in the car our outside of the vehicle, but after the being shot the suspect's vehicle rolled forward and crashed into an oncoming vehicle before coming to a stop in the median. 

The driver of the oncoming vehicle wasn't seriously injured, according to the BCA. 

The suspect was provided immediate medical assistance but EMTs pronounced the person dead at the scene. The individual's identity and official cause of death will be announced at a later stage by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office. 

The victim of the alleged domestic incident was not injured, nor were the deputies involved in the incident.

The BCA said it will review body camera and dash cam video as part of its investigation.
