Suspect in custody in St. Paul shooting death

St. Paul police have taken a teenager in custody following an early morning shooting death.

The Pioneer Press reports confrontation that ended in the fatality happened around 3 a.m. on St. Paul's East Side.

KARE 11 reports that when St. Paul officers arrived to investigate a report of shots fired, they found the victim, who died at the scene. His identity has not been released but he is a St. Paul resident. Police did not say what prompted the altercation.

The Star Tribune reports 19-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene without incident and is in custody.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s office is expected to a release the victim's name in the next few days. A case is expected to be presented to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office for consideration of criminal charges next week.
