A suspect in this week's fatal stabbing at a popular park on the St. Croix River has turned himself in to law enforcement, according to various reports.

An argument between two groups of anglers fishing on opposite sides of the river in Interstate Park escalated and led to the stabbing death of Peter Kelly, 34, of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, the Polk County sheriff said Wednesday.

At that time, authorities asked for the public's help finding the three men who had been fishing on the Wisconsin side when Kelly and his friend crossed the river to confront them.

Sheriff Peter Johnson says a suspect accompanied by his lawyer turned himself in Thursday, the Pioneer Press reports.

WCCO reports the suspect is scheduled to appear in court in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, on Friday.

Sheriff Johnson said the three men who'd been fishing on the Wisconsin side left the scene of the stabbing in two vehicles. According to FOX 9, those vehicles have been located and investigators have interviewed the men who were with the suspect.

The Star Tribune says Kelly was a youth and high school coach of wrestling, football, and baseball. He was also the father of five children, all of whom are younger than 10.

A GoFundMe page to raise money for Kelly's family was posted the day after his death and has a goal of $100,000.
