Suspect led deputies on 23-mile chase, hid in the woods
A suspect led police on a 23-mile chase in Meeker County on Wednedsay evening before fleeing on foot and eventually being arrested.
According to the Meeker County Sheriff's Office, at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday a deputy saw a 36-year-old Litchfield man wanted for multiple domestic abuse no-contact order violations driving near Forest City Township.
The deputy tried to stop the suspect, but he fled leading deputies on a 23-mile pursuit. Deputies lost sight of him in a wooded area near Minnesota Highway 24 and 305th Street in Forest City Township, where the suspect apparently fled on foot.
For nearly two hours, law enforcement searched for the suspect. He was eventually located on County State Aid Highway 34 near the intersection of 315th Street in Forest City Township.
In the suspect's truck, deputies found two shotguns, a handgun, and a knife.
He was treated for frostbite and then booked into Meeker County Jail, pending formal charges that could include fleeing, reckless driving, violations of a domestic abuse no-contact order and illegal possession of firearms.
