A suspect is in a serious condition in a hospital after being struck by a beanbag round shot by a police officer.
The incident happened in Morrison County, near the city of Genola, around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday when police were called to a domestic assault involving a knife.
By the time Morrison County deputies arrived, the suspect had left in a vehicle, only to get stuck in a field about six miles west of Genola.
A brief standoff ensured, which resulted in one of the deputies firing a beanbag round at the suspect, who was taken by Mayo Clinic Ambulance to St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.
They were then airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital, and is now being treated for serious injuries at Hennepin County Medical Center.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating, as is standard with officer-involved shootings, and has said there is no body camera video of the incident.
The Morrison County Sheriff's Office meanwhile is investigating the domestic assault.
No deputies were injured in the incident.
