Suspect strikes Mounds View officer in squad car after fleeing

The suspect faces multiple felony charges, according to the department.

After fleeing police and crashing into a squad car in Mounds View, a suspect is facing multiple felony charges.

Sunday at around 6:30 p.m., a Mounds View Police Department officer tried to stop a sedan with no license plates. When the officer turned on his lights, the suspect began to flee at a high rate of speed in a residential area, according to an MVPD press release.

The suspect was eventually spotted several minutes later by another officer at Quincy Street and County Road 1, where the suspect again took off at high speeds.

The suspect eventually crashed into an MVPD squad car at Quincy Street and Oakwood Drive. After running on from the crash, the suspect was apprehended by MVPD’s K9 unit. 

Both the suspect and the officer in the struck vehicle sustained possible injuries and were transported to a local hospital. 

The suspect faces multiple felony charges. More details will become available once formal charges are filed.
