Suspected arsonist sets fire at tire shop across the street from St. Paul fire station

The fire was spotted by St. Paul firefighters.

Fire officials are investigating after a blaze erupted at a tire shop on the 700 block of University Ave. in St. Paul on Sunday evening.

The fire at Pay Less Tires was actually reported to dispatch by firefighters stationed across the street at Station 18. Those same firefighters then responded and doused the flames.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is being investigated, although FOX 9 reports that arson is suspected after surveillance video showed images of a suspect who recently was accused of vandalizing vehicles at the tire shop.

More information is likely to be released in time.
