A man walking along a central Minnesota highway was struck by a vehicle and critically injured early Sunday morning.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the 28-year-old man was walking eastbound in the westbound lane of Hwy. 23 around 1:20 a.m. when he was struck by a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
It happened east of St. Cloud in Minden Township.
The pedestrian has been identified as Taban Simon Tharek, 28, of Waite Park. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to CentraCare St. Cloud for treatment. His current condition is unknown.
A 64-year-old Rice, Minnesota, man was driving the Cherokee. Neither him nor two passengers in the vehicle were injured.
